This edition completes our FIRST year & 12^th edition of The Wagon News. We hope you enjoy the newsletter each month and find it to be a fun and easy read. The Power of Thankfulness

Gratitude, appreciation, giving, thanks, satisfied, pleased. These are all synonyms for “thankful.” Gratitude is a way for people to appreciate what they have, instead of reaching for something new in hopes of making them happier. Gratitude helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack.

Our national holiday, Thanksgiving began in 1621 where the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Native Americans shared an Autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. As we gather with family and friends this holiday season, we celebrate gratitude for our health, a roof over our head and a floor beneath our feet, our furry friends, additions to our family, a new job, new and existing friendships, our piece of mind, being financially sound, and much more.

Other ways of giving thanks include donating to a favorite charity, visiting a hospital, sending a care package to soldiers overseas, volunteering at an animal shelter, or providing Thanksgiving dinner for a family in need.

According to PositivePsychology.com, “Gratitude in all forms is associated with happiness. Whether we say thank you to someone or receive the same from others, the feeling it brings is that of pure satisfaction and encouragement. Expressions of gratitude help in building and sustaining long term relationships, deal with adversities and bounce back from them with strength and motivation.”

One of my favorite TV shows to watch every year is “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.” A handful of jellybeans, some pretzels, and two slices of toast is not quite what comes to mind when you think of Thanksgiving dinner. But that’s what Peppermint Patty got after inviting herself over to Charlie Brown’s house for a turkey day feast.

I’ll leave you with this quote from Deepak Chopra: “Gratitude opens the door, the power, the wisdom, the creativity of the universe. You open the door through gratitude.”

Good Works in the Community

This month in our Good Works in the Community feature, we are sharing an event that Andrea Aguirre in the Corporate Office attended and participated in recently. Tennis for Turtles featured tennis pros from The Boca Raton Resort & Club holding a clinic for tennis players of all skill levels. Proceeds benefited Friends of Gumbo Limbo in Boca Raton, FL.

Andrea is passionate about tennis and nature, so this was a perfect event!

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to inspire coastal and marine stewardship. One of the programs that GLNC, Inc. supports is research projects for scientists working directly with endangered sea turtles and funding the sea turtle rehabilitation facility’s equipment and veterinary needs. The have an accessible boardwalk, tropical hardwood, aquariums, and butterflies all around. Visit www.gumbolimbo.org

This Center is beautiful, educational and a steward of our environment.

Fun Cartoon for You

Last month we had an article about change, and we came across this cartoon that made us laugh. Sometimes change can be scary yet necessary but it’s all about how you look at it, right? There are a lot of studies and information out there about how your perspective can change the outcome. We chose to the positive side of things!
