Vision Boards for Everyone!

By Jennifer Troyan

Do you have a vision for your business? Have you considered creating a vision board for your business? You can even create a vision board for products/services you offer, financial goals, building your team, etc. Or how about yourself personally? You can create them with your kiddos.

A vision board can help you have focus, create inspiration plus give you some direction while setting goals to achieve throughout the year. You can even do it quarterly (or any time frame).

What is a vision board? The definition from Oxford Languages explains it this way, “a collage of images and words representing a person’s (or company’s) wishes or goals, intended to serve as inspiration or motivation.”

It will help you see the big picture for your business.

Smart Money Mamas shared in a recent blog about creating a vision board:

Know What You Want to Achieve

In order to achieve what you want, first, you have to know what you want.

When you’re creating your vision board for your business, consider the following questions:

  • What does your ideal workday look like?
  • Who is your perfect client?
  • What kinds of products do you want to produce?
  • What projects do you love?
  • Where will your office be and what does it look like?

Look for images, words, and other items that represent your ideal business day, your perfect client, and your ultimate dream job.

Include long-term goals and some huge goals. Set goals that will stretch the expectations of your business. Think big!

You can create one digitally or physically. Try it both ways and see what you like best! Give yourself an hour or two to complete it.

I have done it both physically and digitally. It just depends on your taste. Do it in collage style or make it neat with lots of white space.

For a digital vision board, you can create one using Word, PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Spark, Raw Pixel, Photoshop, etc.). Find photos to use, upload your own, or type out words. You can change up the fonts and colors. Also, there are tons of templates online (free and paid) if you need some creative inspiration online. I recommend printing it out, you’ll see why in a moment.

For creating one physically, get some poster board or a cork board, something to hold your vision. You can cut out pictures from magazines, postcards, flyers, print your own photos, draw, or sketch out the images. Have some scissors handy. Also, get some glue, a glue stick, push pins or double-sided tape to adhere them to your board. You can write on your board or cut out words/phrases, print out some, or cut from magazines. Use markers, colored pencils, crayons, paint. Decorate it too. You can put stars, little doodles, or circles around things, just to jazz it up. There is no right or wrong way to do it.

Anything goes!

One thing I suggest is to put it in a place you will see it every day, so it helps you “visualize” your goals. Try to look at it every day if you can.

I’ve saved ones I have done in the past and it is super fun to look back and see what you achieved.

This might be a fun activity to do with your team as well. Maybe you can work together and have one common one board as well as individual boards. You can invite everyone to submit at least one thing.

No matter how you choose to do it, have fun, and enjoy. This is a project that is worthy of your time. Enjoy!

Good Works in the Community

We are bringing attention to this segment “Good Works in the Community” by spotlighting people and companies that are giving back in their communities or abroad.

Our goal is to encourage people and companies to participate in volunteering or donating with the added benefit of inspiring others.

Share your story with us and we’ll promote you and the organizations you do your great works with. This is open to individuals or companies. We’d love to feature you here!

Have you thought about offering your employees an option to get involved? It is becoming increasingly popular to make this a perk of the job. Giving people 2-3 days a year or hosting group activities with charitable organizations. Another option is doing company fundraisers. For those of you who have work from home environments, your teams can do good works in their local communities. There are many ways to do this, and they are all great. It is quite likely you have some superstars to tell us about and we can help you highlight them.

Additionally, it becomes a wonderful topic of conversation amongst employees. They may even tell their friends and family and voila, that’s how good will spreads.

Studies show that people who participate or even observe acts of good will receive positive benefits from it. According to randomactsofkindness.org, “Witnessing acts of kindness produces oxytocin, occasionally referred to as the ‘love hormone’ which aids in lowering blood pressure and improving our overall heart-health. Oxytocin also increases our self esteem and optimism, which is extra helpful when we’re anxious or shy in a social situation (Natalie Angier, The New York Times).” The site goes on to say kindness also increases energy, happiness, lifespan, pleasure, and serotonin.

We find that spreading good works makes everyone feel good. Please help us share the love and inspiration. Let’s get as many people involved as we can.
